Rare Italian-language edition from the famous Stamperia Reale of Giambattista Bodoni (1740-1813), of the bestselling work The imitation of Mary (L'Imitation de la très-sainte Vierge) (1766). 

Details

One volume, 16.8 cms. x 10.2 cms., duodecimo, pp. [8] 271 [1]. With initial blank. Roman letter, woodcut urn to title-page, woodcut headpiece at beginning of each of the three parts. Light browning, very slight spotting and staining. Bound in contemporary marbled sheep, gilt decoration and red goatskin label to spine, gilt decorations to sides, marbled pastedowns and endpapers, all edges red, green sil ribbon. Binding rubbed and slightly worn, some loss to headcap and some peeling of top layer of leather to front cover.
