What kinds of books do you sell?
Leo Cadogan Rare Books specialises in unusual and iconic items from the cultural and intellectual life of the European Renaissance and Early Modern periods.
Do you have a shop?
We do not have a shop, but we regularly exhibit at antiquarian book fairs, and can be visited in London by appointment.
Do you exhibit at fairs?
Leo Cadogan Rare Books exhibits at several international antiquarian book fairs every year. You can check our list of upcoming fairs to see where we will be exhibiting next.
Can I arrange to see a book in person?
Please contact us to arrange an appointment.
Do you teach about rare books?
I co-teach, with fellow bookseller Angus O’Neill, a one-week course on ‘The New Trade in Old Books’ at the London Rare Books School summer school, at the Institute of English Studies in Senate House in London’s Bloomsbury.

Can you find a specific book for me?
We do not offer a general book finding service, but feel free to get in touch with us with your wants, and (particularly if they are in our areas of established interest) we will try to help if we can.
Can you sell a book on my behalf and can I sell rare books to you?
Yes and yes - although it always depends on the book. We strive to treat all our private suppliers fairly, and where we cannot help you we will freely offer advice. We always need to see and collect evidence about provenance and about the identities of our suppliers.
What is your privacy policy?
Leo Cadogan Rare Books takes care to follow the UK’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) 2018. All new customers are invited to be on our mailing list for electronic bulletins - an invitation that they are free to decline.
We do not give out or sell any personal information. We remove any names from our mailing list on request.

Can I place an order over the phone?

Please contact us to reserve a book.
What payment methods do you offer?
We accept payments by bank transfer, cheque, credit card, and (for small amounts of exchangeable currency) in cash.
What currencies do you accept?
We accept payments in any currencies that are accepted by our payment partners (currently Convera for cheques, Wise for bank transfers and credit card, and Stripe for credit card).
Delivery
Do you offer free shipping?
All purchases completed on the website receive free shipping.
How do you ship orders?
We ship orders using leading tracked postal and courier services, depending on the destination.
Do you ship books outside of the UK?
Of course!
How will my order be packaged?
All orders are packaged carefully to protect the contents from damage. Much of our packaging is recycled by us from shipments that we have received. We have almost entirely eliminated the use of plastics (using for example waterproofed papers for protection against moisture, specialist transparent paper wallets for shipping labels, and paper-based waterproofed tape for sealing). You can expect your purchases to arrive with you in the condition in which they left us, wrapped in packaging that can be disposed of in a paper recycling bin or reused by you.
Are your shipments insured?
Yes!
How long will it take for my order to be delivered?
We can never be entirely sure when a parcel will arrive but we get our orders out as quickly as possible, using good, tracked services.
Can I track my delivery?
Yes! We will provide the tracking number.
What is your returns policy?
We will accept a return within 30 days for any reason. If a material mistake has been made in the description of an item, which only comes to light after those 30 days have elapsed, we will still take back the item. We will pay the costs of return shipping in any case where the return happens because of our error. Please let us know before shipping to us.
