[Mascarenhas, Jorge de, Marques de Montalvão]: Carta, que escribio un cortezano de Madrid a un Señor de titulo de Andaluzia. [Lisbon] [Final page: Na officina de Lourenço de Anveres]. [1641].

Rare political pamphlet, containing discussion of the first minister of Spain the Count Duke of Olivares (1587-1645), and the Catalan revolt (Reapers’ War) (1640-1659), with a paragraph (sig. A3 recto) on Peru. Authorship has been ascribed (see PORBASE and cataloguing at Newberry Library) to Jorge de Mascarenhas, first Marques de Montalvåo (d. 1653), who became the first viceroy of Brazil after Portugal’s 1640 independence.

Our copy has the name at end only of the printer (the CCPB record has a second name, of the bookseller, here as well).
