Lamarque de Lagarigue, Nestor: L'ère de Charles X (and four other works). Paris, 1824-1827.

Nicely-bound volume containing five early nineteenth-century poetical pamphlets from a single author, the front cover gilt-stamped with his name “Nestor de Lamarque”. Contents include a three-and-a-half-page poem on miners (second work),  a long poem on liberty, whose subjects include the Greek Revolution (third work), and an ode on the famous actor François-Joseph Talma (1763-1826) (fifth).

The publications are titled: 1. L’ère de Charles X. Paris, chez Ponthieu, 1825. (pp. 16 (bound without 4 pp. at end with 'Notes')). 2. La gloire, ode [...] suivie de deux élégies. Paris, chez les libraires du Palais Royal, 1825. (pp. 23 [1]). 3. La liberté, poème dithyrambique, divisé de deux lyres. Paris, chez les marchands des nouveautés, 1827. (pp. 87 [1]). 4. Les Novembriseurs, improvisation lyrique dédiée à la Cour Royal de Paris. Paris, Ladvocat et Delaunay, 1827. (pp. 7 [1]). 5. Ode à Talma. Paris, chez les libraires du Palais Royal, 1824. (pp. 14 [2]. With final blank).

One volume, 21.4 cms. x 13.8 cms., octavo, contents as above. All bound with half-titles. +, after first work, 3 pp. 'Table des ouvrages contenues dans le recueil de 1824' (possibly taken from a longer publication), and 4 pp. 'Académie des jeux floraux. Programme pour le concours de 1826' (holes and repair in text). MS corrections to p. 8 of second work. Light browning, slight foxing and spotting, small hole pp. 21-24 of second work (removing one letter), bound in polished red goatskin, gilt decorative borders to covers, gilt decoration to spine, marbled pastedowns and endpapers, front cover stamped in gilt with text "NESTOR DE LAMARQUE" (binding rubbed). Pencil inscriptions to first half-title, one of a bookseller, the other stating "Found in a ruined house in the trenches at Arras, 31/1/17", with signature below.
