Haro de San Clemente, José, OC: El chichisveo impugnado. [n.pl., n.pr.] 1729.

First edition of this treatise on cicisbeism, the European fashion for women to have male companions who were not their husbands. This conservative moral treatise includes (introduction) criticism of contemporary clothing fashions amongst men. The first  chapter (9-49) asks "what is a woman"; the author defends patriarchal power in the household. The second chapter addresses the situations of meetings between women and their gallants and the third chapter addresses the dangers that meetings create.
